[robi1000] Clio Williams, AX GT/Sport, BX 16S, 405 T16...

Message par robi1000 » 17 janv. 2011, 21:28

Hello guys!

My name is Robi and I'm from Slovenia. Sadly I don't speak French (I will learn ;) ), I hope you can still understand me.

I really like this forum, because here I can find a wealth of good information. There's also so many outstanding projects that I closely follow.

I will make a short presentation of my cars and if you don't mind a few cars of my close friends (on which we do work together).

Here is my favourite car - Williams. I will add some pics of restoration later in the topic.

This are my AX GT and my friends GT. I later used all the parts I have in my workshop to make one good car with AX Sport rims and TU24 1.3 engine.

This was my Renault 19 16S, sadly I've sold it 4 years ago to buy Williams :( It was as new!

I'm really sad whenever I look at my 19 16S pictures. I really miss that car! :(

I've bought Citroen BX 1.9 16S about a year ago (pics are from the day I bought it). Paint is in bad condition (would need a good polish), but no rust! Car sat in a garage for 10 years. This is also a future project pending restoration.

This is my friends 405 T16. Truly amazing car (and fast too).

Also my other friends 205 on twin webers (205 rallye engine), and ZX 16S.

There's also my good friends 106 Rallye on ITBs, but enough pics for today! :D

Yeah, this is mostly a copy/paste from another section, because at the time I didn't have 30 posts. But I must admit you have a very good memory! :)

Ok, so let's start...

This was all in the late summer 2007:

About the car. It's ph2 Wiwi and it was imported from Switzerland when it was almost new. Clocks show around 75k miles, but I can't really check this since car came with no service history (again that's not really an issue since here Renault dealerships aren't very keen on doing service on Williams Clio - they usually give you a hint where you could find a guy who repairs rally cars. Since then I discovered the car has Megane BE and some headwork. When I bought the car it ran really good, no smoke or anything. One week later (or one trip to the sea and back) it spun all bearings (and no I wasn't trashing it). As I found out later, engine was serviced very recently just to sell the car, and the quality of work done was terrible!!! So instead of fully respraying the car I did block rebuild. But before that I was looking for a competent mechanic for 2 months because nobody would put guarantee on his own work (they all said the car was too old), but they would happily charge me huge amounts of money. All mechanics told me they'd only take engine and not the complete car (they didn't want to bother with taking the engine out) I had to do it myself.

I had to do it on the street because I didn't have an empty garage to do it. For me it was kind of embarassing because it's quite a nice neighbourhood and it's weird when your left neighbour's got a CL600 on his driveway and right one a BMW M3 and so on. So I did it on a driveway of an unfinished house down the road.

This is when I bought it in 2007. I found it neglected on a remote parking lot. Few days later I spotted an ad stating the car is for sale, after that deal was made quickly:
Image

Like I said, engine bearings seized soon after I bought it and I had to take the engine for service. But first we had to take the engine out of the car:
Image

This is me (few years ago) :)
Image

Garage was empty for a day so we quickly did the work...

Finaly in the van:

Inside the engine, it was a disaster...

I wanted to buy a new F7R block, but at the time none were for sale in my country...

Bottom end was repaired as much as possible. Pistons were previously lowered with sandpaper!! This was done because block was lowered.

I sent my pistons to the machine shop to make them straight and level on top. Not a very good solution, but the only available at the time...

I've not posted here for quite a while, but I will need a lot of your technical help soon, so I felt it would be nice if I would do an update.

Again, I'm sorry because I can't speak french... :(

Here are some parts I bought in the past year.

New steering wheel:

Leather pouch:

Another set of forged rods and pistons:

Coops mount

KMS standalone ECU

2L badges

Group A induction system

ITBs

*******************************

I went to Italy to strip some valvers for parts. Here's the result...

Another set of injectors with fuel rail with mint plastic cover. Injector connectors are like new, FPR is like new... Spark plug cover is in good condition too!
Image

This was missing on my car. I love such details.
Image

There was even original Quality control tag from 91'.
Image

Spare PAS tank cap, destined for "non-spill mod"
Image

I just couldn't resist to a spare ph1 ECU
Image

Or to a mint TPS... (maybe I could use it on ITBs)
Image

This will probably become a keyring or maybe a detail somewhere on my car
Image

I also took this PAS oil cooler from Nissan 300ZX
Image

And best of all - all this for 20€
