Car was resprayed in early 2011

(this is a copy/paste from my thread on Williamsclio.co.uk)
It's so beautiful that my camera is just not good enough to capture the real shade and depth of colour. Few pics for now, others will follow a bit later because I would like this thread to be chronologically correct as much as possible. So, here are some from the bodyshop...

Washing and degreasing

Image

After new arch was fitted (sadly no pics of this being done)
Image

Image

Rust removal from the right arch (there was one small 3mm rust bubble)
Image

I like this one... Door and bonnet in primer

Image

Mmmmm...

This is one of my favourite pics!! :D

And just a few teasers...

To be continued... :P

I did some work on ITBs. I removed secondary butterflies and provisionally seperated the throttle bodies to see how should I space them. Here's a pic of them reassembled, but without secondary butterflies.
Image

Wuuuuuuu, a small but very heavy pallet arrived today! :D
Image

After I unwrapped it I found... F7R 714 with modified head and some other goodies 8)

Inside that Pagid box is a 172 flywheel (60-2 pattern for my standalone) with 172 clutch.
Image

Short rad for my ITB conversion
Image

Good cooling is a must

Some sort of art

My inspiration :)

Injector seals. Good to have some spares.

We will come to brakes in a moment, I just have to re-post/re-paste all the work from the last 2 years... :D

Anyway, we continue:

F7R 714 is a different engine. It's practically a F4R bottom end. So it's held together with different kind of bolts (external torx). New tool box was needed. :)
Image

And then I finally started dismantling 714 engine:
Cambelt and plastic covers removed
Image

Sump and chain oil pump removed. Pistons and rods are also out. Notice different bolts.
Image

Just for comparison... This is F7R 710 (on the same table :P)
Image

714 crank removed:
Image

I just have to take apart my old engine to get my old forged Wossner pistons out. After that I'll send the block away for rebore.

Raw aluminium, soon to become my custom inlet manifold :)
Image

Some of the presents I got for my birthday from my mates. 4th mount and some tools. :D
Image

ITBs wrapped in a protective foil. Can't stop looking at them. :D

Finally got round to dismantling the "old" engine.

Head off

Forged pistons inside...
Image

... and then they magically disappeared! 8)
Image

Then I decided to remove the steering rack, beucase it needed some TLC

Brackets also

Oh and my friend bought a car lift, so work should be easier once we fit and wire it

And we started to cover the floor with poliurethane to keep the dust to the absolute minimum.

Ok, my old engine is almost fitted back in the car. I will fit it so that I can make my new inlet manifold and work on my new engine at the same time.

This is my old steering rack rubber

F7R 714 on it's way to be rebored

Old engine fitted back in the bay

Working with forklift makes everything so much easier

KONIs fitted

Short rad trial fit

This is how inlet runners should be angled
Image

Short rad is definitely a must for a decent ITB conversion

I started my battery relocation project:
Image

I'm trying to find some sort of optimal layout. PAS pump is the problematic area, along with alternator bracket (but that can be fabricated). I really don't want to ditch PAS, because I will run 16'' rims (and I was just minutes ago driving non-PAS Clio and I really hated the steering feel). Shorter rack is really noticable on valver/Williams.
Image

Well, hopefully I will be able to retain original PAS setup. I plan to go electric later, but that will be for increasing power.

Obviously Saxo VTR pump is a good fit. I also looked at Mercedes A class and Honda S2000.

But I would prefer original Renault electric PAS pump, that was fitted to LHD cars with AC.
Image

Anyone has one for sale?

Block came back from the machine shop. It was rebored to 83.50mm.

Waiting to be assembled

New Wossner piston rings. They cost a fortune! :(

Block degreasing

Wossner forged rods
Image

Mated to a Wossner forged piston
Image

I've done a lot of measuring and weighing lately, to ensure every part will be assembled correctly.

This is again a repost from another forum dated around August 2011:

I'm working really hard to finish the car till 1st September when car will be exhibited on Renault stand on our biggest car show.

I waxoiled the sills and rear quarter panels, hopefully protecting them from rust spreading quickly

Before
Image

After
Image

Lots of waxoil
Image

Bitumen as sound proofing (and some rust protection)
Image

Cleaned and prepared door cards and interior plastics
Image

Roughly the state car was in a few days ago, and less then one month to car show :?

Image

Battery relocation project :)
Image

Image

Rims are really finished cleaning wise, and are now at a machine shop which will cut the lip. After that comes a fresh lick of R9312... ;)
